Public Trust in Tax Authorities Declining Amid Allegations of Corruption
KONTAN.CO.ID - There has been a decline in public trust in the tax authorities due to alleged corruption involving unscrupulous tax officials. This trend is reflected in the slowing down of reporting of Annual Income Tax Returns (PPh).
According to the records of the Directorate General of Taxes, only 50.51% of registered taxpayers required to report SPT have done so, with the number of reports reaching 9.8 million as of March 27, 2023. Of these, 9.5 million were from individual taxpayers and 294,900 were from corporate taxpayers.
