Merdeka Battery (MBMA) Invests US$ 600 Million in a Nickel Smelter
KONTAN.CO.ID - JAKARTA. PT Merdeka Battery Materials Tbk (MBMA) will soon build a new processing plant or smelter. MBMA has signed a definitive agreement with a wholly-owned subsidiary of GEM Co Ltd to build a high-pressure acid leach (HPAL) smelter.
For this expansion, MBMA and GEM have formed a joint venture company. So, the HPAL smelter will be built and operated under the auspices of PT ESG New Energy Material, also known as HPAL JV Co. MBMA owns 55% of HPAL JV Co, and the remaining 45% is owned by GEM.
